2013 Carnival Magic Cruise Day 2
I walk on the wrap-around deck on the Promenade every day
After walking a dozen laps, I join Lee at the Spa & Sports Deck (Deck 12) to use the machines and complete our daily exercise then go back to our cabin to shower and change then head upstairs for breakfast.
A copy of the Carnival Fun Times which highlights the ship’s activities, restaurant menus, and various shows for the day has been delivered to our cabin and we find it extremely useful.
There are many places to eat breakfast on the Magic. A lot of people prefer the buffet at Lido Marketplace because of the wide variety but others like to go to the main dining area to have a sit-down meal and be served.
The elevators are packed

You can have soft cones all day long
24-hour coffee, tea, lemonade station
Although we travel in a group, everybody is free to do their own things and the only "mandatory" headcount is taken daily at the 8:15 PM dinner and so Lee and I decide to go Lido Marketplace for a late lunch.
This buffet is big. It has to be as it seems to be the most favorite place for cruisers to eat. There are so many food stations in here including soups, salads, cold meat and cheeses, hot dishes, carving station, pasta, bread, and of course desserts. You cannot leave here hungry.
After lunch we walk around and explore this magnificent vessel. The two tools you need to have to manage your time efficiently on the Magic are the Deck Plan which has been loaded onto my phone and the daily Fun Times.
The shopping never takes a vacation. Lee at the Fun Shop on Deck 5
The lowest public space on the Magic is the Lobby Deck (Deck 3). This is where the Northern and Southern Lights Dining Rooms, Magic Lobby, Dance Floor Bar, Shore Excursion Desk, Guest Services Desk, and the three-story-high Showtime Theater are located.
Grab a chair and a drink and you can spend the whole day sitting there watching all types of people parading by, the colorful elevators zooming up and down, and the clouds rolling in and out above the ship through the huge glass atrium.
Now it’s time for some sun. While most of the people heading to lunch, we head for the Beach Pool near the front of the ship on the Lido Deck. Here, we grab a couple of lounge chaises, get some drinks and read our books. The pool area is about half full and I am grateful that the music from the DJ is not too loud.
Our friends should be around here somewhere. After laying on the lounge for a long time, it's time to go back to our cabin and get ready for dinner.
Tonight is Elegant Attire Night which means that guests attending dinner should wear something fancier than usual.
Gone are the days when tuxedos and gowns are required on elegant nights and nowadays men mostly wear their suits and ties and women evening dresses. Still, everyone looks great and needless to say, we take plenty of pictures.
Before dinner, we go to a show called The Groove Line at the Showtime Theater where we see fantastic performances by Carnival dancers and singers.

Today is our first full day on the Magic. I get up around 7:00 AM and go down to the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) for my daily walk. The Promenade has an outside wooden deck that wraps around the entire ship which is used by many as a walking or jogging track. The sun, rising just above the horizon, and the crispy air greets the few cruisers who are out on the track. The Magic glides smoothly and almost noiselessly through the blue Caribbean water pushing aside tremendous amount of white foams as it's heading south toward Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras.

A good-looking couple, Kay and Steve Nguyen. They host a spring alfresco dinner annually at their home in April
First elegant night dinner includes lobsters but disappointingly, the lobsters are very small. Some of us have seconds but all of us have soups salads and various desserts.
Another great night!
