2013 Carnival Magic Cruise Day 6
Friday, November 8, 2013

Port of Call today is Cozumel. Lee and I have been to Cancun and Playa de Carmen several times before but have never taken the ferry to Cozumel.

The ship docks at the pier right at 7:00 AM and after a big breakfast, our group walks down to Deck 0 and debark the ship. A long pier connects the ship to the huge duty-free shop and land. They make everyone walk through the duty-free for obvious reasons but we decide to wait until we come back this afternoon to check things out.

On the next pier, the magnificent Allure of the Seas has already docked and is letting its customers off the ship as well. The sight of the Allure brings back wonderful memory of Lee and me cruising with our kids on its sister ship, the Oasis of the Seas, in 2010.

Magic docks here in Cozumel. We walk on this pier toward land
Cruise staff surprises everyone this morning by placing a towel animal on every lounge chair in the pool area
After we walk through the duty-free shop and a commercial area outside that is full of shops and restaurants, we head directly to the taxi and shuttle van stands.

At the van stand, we negotiate with the company representative to take all of us to a resort called Paradise Beach about five miles away.

We quickly agree to pay $22 per person for a round trip ride, entrance fee to the resort, and chair and umbrella rental.

The ride to Paradise Beach in the air-conditioned van is comfortable and I am glad all of us are together in a van and not riding separately in taxis.

Paradise Beach was created for day-users and cruisers. It has a wide beach area, a beautiful pool, lust landscaping, hammock areas, restaurants, and very clean restroom facilities.

Kayaks, snorkeling equipment, and huge floats in various shapes are also available for your enjoyment.

We are amazed of the rows and rows of coconut trees bearing ripe coconuts.

We lay out, swim in the ocean and the pool, kayak, and play with the huge beach floats.

For lunch, we order foods and drinks from the restaurants, take our times  and enjoy ourselves.

Needless to say, we take a lot of picture here at Paradise Beach.

Everyone seems to love this place.

About an hour before our ship is to sail again, we pack up, and head to our van which has been parked in the parking lot with the driver waiting.

20 minutes later, the van drops us off back at Cozumel dock.

This is a great and very inexpensive excursion. The driver was courteous, Paradise Beach facility is new, clean and has everything we want to do in a day.

Back in the dock area, we spend time wandering around, checking out shops, buying souvenirs, ordering drinks, and enjoying mariachi bands.

Back on the ship and after a shower and change, we meet again on the rear of Deck 11 to watch the sunset and take more pictures. Everyone has on white shorts or pants and colorful blouse or shirt and using the late afternoon as the background, we take some fantastic pictures. Then we change and go to the dining room for another great dinner.
