At 1:30 PM, we headed back to ship to have lunch, go to the pools and participate in other outdoor activities. I did the zip liner, climbed the rock wall, and body surfed on the Flowrider.
Tonight is one of two formal nights on the ship so we felt obligated to dress up a little bit to go to dinner. After dinner, we went to see a musical called "Hairspray" then took a stroll through the Central Park section of the ship before heading back to our room.
In our room, we found that the room attendant had folded towels into the shape of a dog. They do a different animal every night.
It has been a wonderful day. Tomorrow will be Day 3.
Cruising the Eastern Caribbean (Day 2)
Sunday, May 9, 2010
Our ship docked in Nassau, the Bahamas around 7 AM this morning and after a quick breakfast, we were off the ship.
When we boarded the ship yesterday, each person was issued a Seapass which is used to unlock your room. You use the Seapass to buy drinks or gifts and pay for the purchases at the end of your cruise. I found this cashless system very convenient.
You need the Seapass to get on and off the ship and therefore, during your cruise, your Seapass is your most important possession besides your passport.

Since we only had a few hours to explore Nassau, we decided to take a ten-minute ferry to Paradise Island to visit the famous Atlantis Hotel. Arriving on the island, we walked along the shops in the Marina Village taking numerous pictures of the fancy boats and yachts that were docked in the harbor then walked a few steps up into the Atlantis.

The Atlantis is big. The complex features hotels, towers, villas, condominiums, beaches, water parks, and huge aquariums in addition to a Vegas-size casino. You can buy tickets if you want to tour the complex, see the "Dig", and underground aquariums, or use the water parks and beaches but since we were short on time, we settled for just sightseeing.
